In under 10 minutes, Northeast president Ricky G. Ford gives a brief rundown of everything that is happening at one of the premier institutions in the United States...Northeast Mississippi Community College. Ford addresses the need more decorum at graduation and changes that may be brought on by excess noise and talking during commencement exercises at the college including adding more graduation ceremonies to reduce the amount of people in the Bonner Arnold Coliseum at one time. Ford also talks about the quick turn around that the college has had to do with its dorms with students moving out at at the beginning of this month and dorms having to be cleaned and refurbished for summer camps and summer students coming in during the month of May and June. Ford gives thanks to the men and women of the facilities operations and maintenance department for all the hours and hardwork that they have put to make sure that Northeast stays functioning with such a short turn around time. Ford also talks about the events that will happen at the college during the summer months...even though the majority of the students are away on summer months, the college still functions with summer school sessions, camps, conferences and a lot more events. Ford talks about the many job opportunities that are open for someone to become a member of the Northeast family and to be a part of one of the premier institutions of higher learning in the United States. In a quick rundown on construction on campus, Ford talks about the outdoor classrooms and steel finally arriving for that project and renovations to the area surrounding the Gaye Roden Carr Aquatic Center, the air conditioning in Ramsey, renovations to the childcare floor of the Waller Technical Center and work on some of the dorms on campus. Ford reminds listeners of a variety of events happening on campus including Orientation on Thursday, June 9; Thursday, June 16 and Thursday, June 23 as well as the "Voices & Votes" exhibit in the Anderson Hall Art Gallery from June 28 through August 16. Ford gives an update on the Apple Distinguished Schools renewal program as well as encourages everyone to sign up for the Mobile Learning Conference on June 13 and June 14.
