The Unexpected Path that Led Her to Build Boats and Transform Communities
from Where to Find Bread with Teri Murrison · host Teri Murrison
Teri talks to award-winning travel writer, photographer, conference speaker, and women’s tour leader Timathea Workman about the passions that have propelled (and continue to propel) her down a unique career path and why she's now a boat builder. Timathea began her career as a rock and roll wife and high school English teacher with a passion for bringing out the best in kids who hung back and kids who were bullied (because she was bullied as a child). After she retired (and while still teaching) she began traveling - she's now been to 60 countries and all but one state in the US. She's driven by curiosity and frequently strikes out in her van and by plane around the world. She leads tours to exotic places for women and now, for men too. Several years ago she started taking solar lamps to communities that have no electricity to help them improve the quality of their lives. Timathea now teaches journaling and self-improvement workshops, writing, and continues traveling. And she's still bringing light to the world. Teri and Timathea met at a travel writers conference in 2019 and have been fast friends ever since. They have a shared affinity for doing things differently than “the way we’ve always done it” - for building new boats and they talk about that.
