Seit über 100 Jahren schlummerte in der Forschungsbibliothek Gotha ein Schatz: das Notizbuch des Webers Kamal ad-Din aus Aleppo, der im 16. Jh. seine Begegnungen mit Offizieren, anderen Händlern und Bekannten anderer Religionen aufschrieb. Somit gibt er uns einzigartige Einblicke in den Alltag im osmanischen Syrien, wirtschaftliche und gesellschaftliche Entwicklungen. Unabhängig voneinander haben Prof. Kristina Richardson (City University of New York) und Dr. Boris Liebrenz (FU Berlin) dieses Notizbuch vor einigen Jahren entdeckt und werden es demnächst als Edition (gedrucktes Buch mit wissenschaftlichen Studien) veröffentlichen. Als exklusive Sneak-Preview spreche ich in dieser Episode mit Boris über die Geschichte dieses (bislang) einzigartigen Notizbuches, seine Inhalte und seine Bedeutung für die historische Forschung.
