To the woman who fears she’s running out of time (a fertility reframe)
from Pneuma with Daniel Finneran · host Daniel Finneran
Too often, the effort to conceive devolves into a frustrating war with time—A struggle against an impatient society’s expectations. A race against nature’s cruel, inexorable “biological clock” ⏱️In this meditation, I hope to reframe your fertility journey and restore your inner peace. Here, we’ll unburden ourselves of constantly “trying”, and embrace the quiet sanctity of just “being”. Themes covered in this episode include: 1) The Inner Citadel: An idea borrowed from the Stoics. A fortified soul through whose walls nothing can penetrate. 2) Negative Capability: An idea from poet John Keats. We’ll reclaim the state of uncertainty as a profound mystery—a hallowed space in which great things take form. 3) Chiaroscuro: Something aesthetic. We see the "not yet" as the enriching shadow against which the masterwork is brought into ever more vivid and beautiful relief.
