TODAS. Lateinamerikanische Musikerinnen* in Wien

[English version below] „Todas“ ist die spanische weibliche Form von „alle“. Unter diesem Titel fand am 8. und 9. Mai an der mdw (Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien) das zweitägige wissenschaftlich-künstlerische Festival „TODAS. Lateinamerikanische Musikerinnen* in Wien“ statt. Drei Studierende des Masterstudiums Ethnomusikologie haben sich im Rahmen der Lehrveranstaltung „Ethnomusikologie in medialer Umsetzung“ mit dem Festival beschäftigt und unterschiedliche Perspektiven eingefangen: Llevar la batuta – Mit Laura Valbuena auf dem TODAS-Festival In diesem zweisprachigen Radiobeitrag nimmt Valentina Chochehuanca Ritter das Publikum mit auf den Campus der mdw, wo das Festival im Fanny-Hensel-Saal über die Bühne ging. Dort traf sie die kolumbianische Musikerin Laura Valbuena, die im Rahmen des Festivals mit ihrem Quintett aufgetreten ist. Valbuena war außerdem Teil der Podiumsdiskussion „Latein-amerikanische Musikerinnen* in Wien: Sichtbarkeit, Anerkennung und Präsenz auf der Bühne“. Dabei plädierte sie dafür, die Zügel selbst in die Hand zu nehmen – llevar la batuta. The Portrait of Sonia Hernández – Multiple Belongings through Music Im englischsprachigen Beitrag von Shrestha Barma steht eine weitere Musikerin des TODAS-Festivals im Mittelpunkt. Sie hat ein ausführliches Porträt der peruanischen Gitarristin Sonia Hernández gestaltet und dabei biografische Aspekte mit Hernández’ künstlerischem Schaffen in Beziehung gesetzt. TODAS – A Project by Gabriela Ponce Dossow Sonia Hernández ist in dieser Ausgabe von „Eigenklang“ nicht nur als porträtierte Musikerin zu hören: Für die Sendung hat sie die Kuratorin des TODAS-Festivals, Gabriela Dossow Ponce, zum Gespräch getroffen. Im diesem englischsprachigen Interview erzählt die in Wien lebende Chilenin von ihren persönlichen Beweggründen sowie von der Konzeption und Umsetzung der ersten Festivalausgabe für lateinamerikanische Musikerinnen* in Wien. ________________________________ TODAS. Latin American Women* Musicians in Vienna “Todas” is the Spanish feminine form of “all.” Under this title, the two-day academic and artistic festival “TODAS. Latin American Women* Musicians in Vienna” took place on May 8 and 9 at the mdw (University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna). Three students from the Master’s program in Ethnomusicology explored the festival as part of the course “Ethnomusicology in Media,” capturing different perspectives: Llevar la batuta – With Laura Valbuena at the TODAS Festival In this bilingual radio feature, Valentina Chochehuanca Ritter takes the audience to the mdw campus, where the festival was held in the Fanny Hensel Hall. There, she met the Colombian musician Laura Valbuena, who performed with her quintet at the festival. Valbuena also participated in the panel discussion “Latin American Women* Musicians in Vienna: Visibility, Recognition, and Presence on Stage.” She advocated taking the reins into one’s own hands – llevar la batuta. The Portrait of Sonia Hernández – Multiple Belongings through Music In Shrestha Barma’s English-language contribution, another musician from the TODAS Festival takes center stage. She has created a detailed portrait of the Peruvian guitarist Sonia Hernández, relating biographical aspects to Hernández’s artistic work. TODAS – A Project by Gabriela Ponce Dossow Sonia Hernández is not only featured in this edition of „Eigenklang“ as a musician: For the program, she met with the curator of the TODAS Festival, Gabriela Dossow Ponce, for a conversation. In this English-language interview, the Chilean musician, who lives in Vienna, talks about her personal motivations as well as the conception and realization of the first festival edition for Latin American women* musicians in Vienna.
