Today’s homily: Octave Day of St Thomas of Canterbury

After the Octave of the Holy Innocents, the Church sets St Thomas Becket before us to show the antidote to evil enabled by silence. Clarendon was not persecution but administrative control, asking bishops to sign away conscience. Becket refused. Like Thomas More after him, he teaches that evil reigns when good men remain silent.
