Today's Practice Minute: How to re-finance your student loan

Hello everyone, and thanks for joining us for today's Practice Minute. Today we review student loans and how to refinance your student debt. Once you get a job and have a steady income, you can go to the bank and apply to refinance your loan. If you have any collateral like a car, real estate, or investments, you should tell the bank about that because they do like security against a loan. This will lower your payments and interest. Ask for semi-monthly payments, which are twice a month to coincide with your pay periods. You should be able to reduce your loan from 5 -10% interest down to 3 - 4% interest, depending on your situation and the current market.
