Top 10 EFL Championship Strikers so far. You'll Never Guess Number 5!

from A.I. In Football

In todays episode we take a deeper look at the top performing strikers in the EFL championship through 9 games using our 'Game Changer' metrics. We break down the different ways we can measure the performance of a striker other than the goals they score. We take a look at how prolific they are, how opportunistic they are, and how that translates into how clinical they are compared to the expectations of their team, and to the league average. For example, we would all expect Jamie Vardy to score more goals than Jordan Hugill this year.Vardy is playing for Leicester City, the clear favourites to win the title. Therefore, we expect them to generate more scoring opportunities, and score more goals than one of the relegation favourites Rotherham United. What we show in this episode is that a striker can score less goals than another, but still outperform them when we look at the data in more detail. We'll try and attach screenshots below relating to each striker we talk about in this episode.
