Track Premiere #6: I Am A Vowel - Elle saute à l'envers dans le ciel (Coriolis Sounds)

from DanceTV · host Dance TV

Coriolis Sounds is a Montpellier-based label with a modus operandi that incorporates a wide range of electronic music. Established in 2009 and now ran by Cedrick Eymenier, it’s earned a reputation in discerning circles for its many unpredictable sounds — the likes of which its latest is a fitting example. Their latest EP comes hot on the heels of the ambient/house styles of Becoming (aka Cedrick Eymenier and ex-Swayzak member James S. Taylor) and their stunning EP, ‘Idealista’, with the latter supported by Perlon’s James Dean Brown and Workshop’s Even Tuell to name but a few. The ‘io’ EP features the return of I Am a Vowel to the label, a London-based, French producer whose sound draws parallels with the likes of Laurie Anderson, Popol Vuh, Tangerine Dream and AGF. Over the course of four tracks here, she reminds us just why this is the case. Kicking off matters is the sounds of ‘Everyday is Coriolis’, a nimble, quick-footed track that’s in line with the label’s penchant for unpredictable sounds. A track of myriad vibes, twists and turns, it’s loaded with atmosphere and is the sort of trippy cut that sure to appeal to the likes of Perlon affiliates such as Margaret Dygas or Ricardo Villalobos. Next up on the A side is ‘Aude adore les émeraudes’. Another dub heavy, weighty track, it’s uncompromising and robust and sticks to a loop-heavy, repetitive vibe that’s designed to leave the listener in a haze. The B side gets underway courtesy of ’Elle saute à l'envers dans le ciel’, by which point the release really steps things up a notch. A brutal techno cut full of boundless energy, this one will sound best at a time when the night has moved toward a full-on techno assault. Cleverly sculpted techno of the sort that’s sure to go down a treat with the heads, it’s a highlight on a release that’s packed full of charms. Culminating matters soon after is ‘My Name Is Kurban’. a perc-heavy cut that’s all about the firm kicks. Dexterous and sinister, it closes the release with a unique flair that abounds from the get-go. “Time doesn't exist anymore. There are just atoms & space.” Follow I Am A Vowel here: https://soundcloud.com/iamavowel https://www.residentadvisor.net/dj/iamavowel https://twitter.com/iamavowel https://iamavowel.bandcamp.com
