Have you ever wanted to create a course? Or maybe you have created multiple courses and they keep stacking up - today, you're gonna want to listen in as Val welcomes guest Shannon Boyer. Shannon is an award-winning educator with more than 20 years of experience in curriculum and course design. She talks about her background in education, particularly in helping students who struggle with postsecondary studies, and shares her expertise in presenting information in an engaging way to help students achieve their goals. Shannon also talks about her transition to online teaching and her accidental foray into helping entrepreneurs improve their course-creation skills. Val and Shannon chat about the challenges of online course creation, highlighting the surprisingly low completion rates for these courses. They discuss the common struggle of course creators who have expertise in their subject but lack the necessary skills in education and curriculum development. Shannon emphasizes the importance of seeking help from professionals in order to create engaging and effective courses that lead to desired transformations for learners. The episode encourages listeners to embrace the role of an educator and recognize the value of outsourcing tasks that are outside their expertise.
