Trapped in Paradise

In this continuation of Anousone’s harrowing journey, her family is on the run—targeted by the Laotian government for escaping. With help from a stranger, they traverse treacherous mountain paths and arrive at what appears to be a safe army camp nestled high in the hills. The camp is well-supplied, full of guns, helicopters, and beautiful homes—but all is not as it seems. What first felt like heaven quickly turns into a trap. The man who helped them has a hidden agenda, and the safety of the young girls in the family is suddenly at risk. Realizing they’ve landed in a drug smuggling encampment, Anousone watches and waits for a chance to escape. She notices a supply truck that travels to the market each day—and takes a dangerous gamble.
