Trending stond dit keer in het teken van zonne-energie. Het Europees Parlement en de Raad van de Europese Unie hebben een akkoord bereikt over de herziening van de Energy Performance of Buildings Directive-richtlijn en willen dat elk nieuw gebouw vanaf 2027 verplicht van zonnepanelen wordt voorzien. De twee Europese organen hebben een voorlopig akkoord bereikt over de zogenaamde EPBD waarin afspraken staan over vermindering van de emissies en het energieverbruik van gebouwen in de hele Europese Unie. Maar wat betekent dit nu concreet? De lidstaten moeten ervoor zorgen dat nieuwe gebouwen klaar zijn voor zonne-energie, ‘solar ready’, wat betekent dat ze geschikt moeten zijn voor de installatie van zonnepanelen of zonnecollectoren met een zonneboiler. Voor bestaande openbare en niet voor bewoning bestemde gebouwen wordt zonne-energie vanaf 2027 geleidelijk verplicht waar dit technisch, economisch en functioneel haalbaar is. Voor alle nieuwe woningen en appartementen worden zonnepanelen tegen 2030 verplicht.
