Their case remains one of the most debated in U.S. history, with questions surrounding their guilt and the motivations behind their execution. That same week in 1991, the CIA Office of Security began investigating one of its own officers: Aldrich Ames. Over a period of nine years, Ames provided sensitive information to the KGB, compromising numerous U.S. intelligence operations and leading to the execution of several American spies.
