True Stories

When I was a very little girl my old Italian aunts always had the latest copy of the rag True Stories in the kitchen. I wasn't supposed to be reading it - but I always amazed at the tales. I remember thinking, "Are these really true stories?" Chances are, they were not. But today, we meet two smart humans who use their stories to help us understand and even celebrate our own. Dr. Edward Hallowell heard a voice in his head at 10 years old. That voice told him to become a psychiatrist. (!?!) SO - years later he did, and he is known all over the world for his work with ADHD. Nancy Balbirer is an actor who wrote herself a part, slept with the self proclaimed reincarnation of Jack Kerouac and was given the title for her first memoir by David Mamet.
