Trump's 10% global tariffs deemed illegal by U.S. trade court

A three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of International Trade ruled that the Trump administration's newly imposed 10 percent global tariffs on all trading partners do not withstand scrutiny under Section 122 of the U.S. Trade Act, declaring the measures are illegal in a 2–1 decision. It comes after Trump announced a fresh round of tariffs by invoking Section 122 in February, a provision that authorizes the president to levy tariffs for up to 150 days, as an alternative to his reciprocal tariffs after the U.S. Supreme Court struck down the tariffs imposed under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act as illegal and void. The latest lawsuit was initiated by a group of small businesses after the global tariffs took effect on Feb. 24, which claimed that Trump attempted to sidestep the Supreme Court's decision.
