Turkey Vultures for Breakfast
from Opie & Carl Hosted by Gregg "Opie" Hughes
The duo kicks things off with a deep dive into their evolving booze preferences—Opie’s escape from pricey wines like Duckhorn and Silver Oak to the bitter betrayal of IPAs, and Carl’s love for crisp, old-school beers like Schlitz and Tsingtao. A sassy wine store clerk schools Opie on affordable bottles, while Carl rants about pretentious wine snobs and their homemade clothes. The adventure continues as they navigate Route 80, dodging turkey buzzards and debating diner orders—think Sedona breakfasts and avocado aversions. Recorded on the road and at a packed diner, the episode captures their raw banter, from Vegas party stories (featuring a mayonnaise jar mascot) to Carl’s questionable hygiene habits and Opie’s panic over podcast equipment. Expect plenty of podcast sounds, from rain-soaked endings to loose farts, as they wrap up with a walk-around at Carl’s cabin, complete with nosy neighbors and a plea to subscribe. This episode is a rollercoaster of laughs, life lessons, and the kind of unhinged chemistry only Opie and Carl can deliver.
