Ah, smell that air? Dead fish, the salty sea air, seagull poop. Pairs well with rum, if I do say so myself! *sip* Ah! Nothing like the coast to freshen the senses. The ocean, the sea, or really any large body of water, has always been a source of mystery to human kind. They are home to many myths, legends, and superstitions that have been around since you fleshy mortals first tied a bunch of wood and hide together and set off onto open water. In many ways, space holds a similar fascination, but the water, it’s more easily accessible, more readily available, and still remains unknown. So, if you haven’t guessed, kitties, this weeks episode is all about the briny deeps and the mysteries they hold, which of course means we’ll be dealing a lot with sea-faring folk. These people place their lives in the hands of the elements day in and day out, say what you will about how that affects them, but one thing still runs strong among many maritime workers, and that’s superstition. “Red skies at night, sailors delight, red skies in morning, sailors take warning!” is an old superstition regarding the weather, for example.
