TWOCPT, Ep 85, What is Consciousness Series, Part 2 of 6, Man Discovers The Mind

from MBR Talk Rewinds · host MBR Talk Rewinds

Before humanity could watch the living brain through modern technology, we were already attempting to understand the invisible world within us. On Monday, August 24 at 9 AM EST, What Is Consciousness? continues with Part 2: Man Discovers the Mind. We’ll travel through some of the thinkers who changed how humanity viewed itself—from Sigmund Freud’s theories of the unconscious and ego, to Carl Jung’s exploration of archetypes and the collective unconscious, and Benjamin Spock’s enormous influence on ideas about childhood and development. Yet we're not stopping at what they taught. We're going to ask: What was observation? What was theory? What survived? What evolved? What did later generations challenge? And naturally, the Why’er (MJ) has another question. Did humanity actually discover the mind… or did we discover another layer of the mystery? Because perhaps our behaviors aren't random. Perhaps our childhood, conditioning, memories, experiences, patterns and unconscious processing leave clues to WHY we think, react and behave the way we do.
