Tze Chun - Windowbreaker and Children of Invention

Tze (pronounced "Z") Chun is a filmmaker working out of NYC and LA. He was born in Chicago and raised outside of Boston, and received his bachelor's degree in film studies at Columbia University.As a painter and visual artist, Tze has been represented at CVZ Contemporary gallery in Soho, and has commissioned portraits in private residences in New York City, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Boston, and New Orleans. Tze also painted the original artwork for the Academy-Award nominated Half Nelson as well as the children's book drawings used in the film.Tze's short film Windowbreaker, made for $600, was selected to play at mant high-profile film festivals including Sundance. A feature length version of the film Children of Invention has also screened at Sundance and has won awards at film festivals worldwide.  It is about two young children living outside Boston that are left to fend for themselves when their mother gets embroiled in a pyramid scheme and disappears.Tze has been named one of Filmmaker Magazine's "25 New Faces of Independent Film." He is working on a number of projects including, You're A Big Girl Now, a film about his mother's childhood growing up in a Singaporean brothel, based on two years of research and interviews.
