Self-awareness and a lack there of is your big determination to honestly understand if someone has significant signs and symptoms of narcissism or not. When dealing with these people, you will find yourself on a very uneven playing ground. The rules do not apply to them!  They make up the rules for the relationship and you must follow them. If not, there will be a problem.  However, they are immune to the rules - the rules do not apply to them -  You learn this over a period of time- in the beginning you’re usually getting attention and having more favorable experiences and then that begins to change.And their attention begins to wane and they begin giving less and less.
