Unraveling Birth Trauma and Transforming Lives

from Healing Birth · host Diana Forsell Tayan

The power, mystery, love and rawness surrounding pregnancy and birth have intrigued Carla since childhood. In 1998 she became New Zealand's youngest graduate from the Direct Entry Midwifery program, and began work as a midwife.  Her experience as a midwife was eye-opening, to say the least. She became aware that the power and mystery of birth had, for many it seemed, been flipped on its head, with medical minds, hands and machines seeking to control, categorize and sanitize the innately unique and unpredictable experience of birth. Leaving midwifery behind, Carla has now stepped into the role of supporting the emotional needs of parents who are struggling to come to terms with a traumatic birth experience. Carla is doing very important work!  Her website:  www.healingbirth.co.nz Instagram:  @healing.birth Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/healingbirthwithcarla Book: https://www.healingbirth.co.nz/mybook Birth trauma survey report: https://www.healingbirth.co.nz/_files/ugd/d9a2d7_e161fa673d704be386f2a83b5301927d.pdf Podcast: https://spotifyanchor-web.app.link/e/TcDUwP4Atxb If you have a birth story you'd like to share, please reach out!
