Use Your Strengths to Have a Huge Impact on Your Relationship w/ Nermine Zakhary (Ep.2)

from Successful Relationship with Emma · host Emma K Viglucci

Did you know that our strengths can have a huge positive impact in our relationship, as well as a negative impact? Yep. We can influence, create change, and spearhead transformation in our relationship with our strengths. But if we are not intentional about how we use them, they can also be misused and be detrimental to our relationship. It all starts with having awareness of our strengths, owning them, and understanding how to use them. For then we can capitalize on what they offer, making our interactions smoother and more meaningful. When we intentionally operate from our strengths, we radiate, entice, and invite others to a wonderful dance with us. We have an impact in the moment, on our partner’s experience, and on their heart. In this special episode, I’m joined by Nermine Zakhary, who shares how to discover and use our strengths. We explore how our strengths influence our relationships and how intentionally using them can help us create more meaningful connection and collaboration. We also explore my own strengths to illustrate the power of understanding what we naturally bring to the relationship, and how we can use those strengths intentionally. In today's episode, I cover:Why our strengths can have both a positive and negative impact on our relationshipsThe importance of awareness, ownership, and intentional use of our strengthsThe 4 domains of strengths and what each one contributesHow our strengths can complement our partner’s strengthsHow to use our strengths to create a more meaningful and successful relationshipYou’ll walk away with a greater understanding of your own strengths, how they may show up in your relationship, and how you can begin using them in a way that supports both you and your partner.Understanding Your Strengths1. Strategic Thinking StrengthsStrategic Thinking strengths help us see possibilities, create direction, gather information, and explore ideas and meaning. They allow us to look beyond what is immediately in front of us and imagine what could be possible. In a Relationship – These strengths can help partners create a shared vision, explore possibilities, understand the bigger picture, and bring new ideas into the relationship. When Misused – Without awareness, these strengths can become overwhelming for a partner who needs more practical direction. Too many possibilities, ideas, or high-level conversations can make it difficult to move into action.2. Executing StrengthsExecuting strengths bring ideas into concrete reality. They focus on details, goals, processes, systems, and practical action. In a Relationship – These strengths can create structure, reliability, organization, and forward movement. They can help couples turn their shared ideas and goals into something tangible. When Misused – A strong focus on details, rules, systems, or getting things done can sometimes leave little room for flexibility, exploration, or emotional connection.3. Influencing StrengthsInfluencing strengths help us convince, ignite, enroll, and energize others. They can bring enthusiasm, momentum, and energy into our relationships. In a Relationship – These strengths can help partners communicate passionately, rally around a shared cause, create excitement, and inspire one another. When Misused – Without intention, influencing can become pushing, persuading, or dominating the conversation rather than creating genuine collaboration.4. Relationship-Building StrengthsRelationship-Building strengths help us connect, invite, listen, and accept. They create space for authentic relationships, encouragement, and non-judgment.In a Relationship – These strengths can create emotional safety, connection, understanding, and acceptance. They help partners feel heard, valued, and supported. When Misused – Focusing too heavily on maintaining harmony can sometimes mean avoiding difficult conversations or neglecting your own needs in order to keep the relationship comfortable.Using Your Strengths IntentionallyOur strengths are powerful, but simply having a strength doesn’t automatically mean we are using it well. Awareness is the first step. Ownership allows us to recognize what we naturally bring, and intention allows us to choose how we use it.When we understand our own strengths and appreciate the strengths of our partner, we can stop expecting each other to operate in exactly the same way. Instead, we can begin to recognize how our differences can complement one another. Our strengths can influence our mindset, communication, interactions, connection, and collaboration. When we use them intentionally, they become powerful resources for creating a more aligned and meaningful relationship. The goal isn’t to change who you are or become good at everything. It’s to understand what you naturally bring, recognize where it can be helpful, notice where it may be getting in the way, and learn how to use it in a way that supports both you and your partner. When we intentionally operate from our strengths, we radiate, entice, and invite our partners into a wonderful dance with us. Now’s the time to discover them, cultivate them, and use them intentionally to create the relationship you want.Hope this information serves you and helps you get on the path to your Successful Relationship and Meaningful Life.MENTIONED INSIDE AND MOREGallup CliftonStrengths Assessment1-Pg Downloadables:Relationship Collaboration System Watch our related videos on our: Youtube channelABOUT OUR GUESTNermine Zakhary is a Certified People Acuity Coach™ & Positive Intelligence & Metal Fitness Coach, specializing in the application of strengths to accelerate performance, energy, relationships, and results and handling life’s challenges with a positive mindset.
