वास्तविकः धनिकः

कस्मिंश्चित् ग्रामे देवालयनिर्माणार्थं धनं प्राप्तुं पञ्च जनाः प्रतिगृहं गतवन्तः । यः अधिकं धन दास्यति तस्य नाम्नः उट्टङ्कनं देवालये भवितुम् अर्हति इति निश्चितवन्तः । कश्चन कोट्यधीशः लक्षरूप्यकपरिमितं धनं दत्तवान् । कदाचित् धनिकेन धनदातॄणाम् आवली दृष्टा । तत्र कश्चन कृषिकः सहस्रं रूप्यकाणि दत्तानि आसन् । कृषिकस्य आर्थिकी स्थितिः शोचनीया चेदपि तेन सहस्रं रूप्यकाणि दत्तानि । मत्तः तस्य हृदयौदार्यम् अधिकम् । अतः तस्य नाम्नः एव टङ्कनं भवेत् देवालये इति अवदत् धनिकः । अन्ततः उभयोः नाम्नोः टङ्कनं भवेत् इति आयोजकाः निर्णीतवन्तः । (“केन्द्रीयसंस्कृतविश्वविद्यालयस्य अष्टादशीयोजनान्तर्गततया एतासां कथानां ध्वनिप्रक्षेपणं क्रियते”)In a village, five men went house to house collecting money for the construction of a temple. It was decided that the name of the person who gave the largest donation would be inscribed on the temple. A millionaire donated one lakh rupees. Later, when he saw the list of donors, he noticed that a poor farmer had given one thousand rupees. Though the farmer’s financial condition was miserable, he had still contributed generously. The millionaire declared, “His heart is greater than mine; his name alone deserves to be inscribed.” Finally, the organizers decided to engrave both names on the temple.
