Este notable músico, quien falleció un día como hoy hace 25 años, y es considerado el sinfonista danés más importante después de Carl Nielsen, compuso alrededor de dos centenas de obras, incluyendo trece sinfonías, tres sinfonías de cámara, cuatro sinfonías para instrumentos de cuerda, una veintena de cuartetos de cuerda, numerosos conciertos, una opera, así como una serie de preludios para orquesta de cámara y abundante música coral. Hoy escucharemos de Vagn Holmboe el primer movimiento de la pieza Trio para flauta dulce, violoncello y clavecín, Op. 133 de manos de Peti Trío.
