Wir haben 2025 ein paar Standorte mit eigener Hardware aufgebaut und dafür Router+Switches gebraucht. Der Mut hat sich gelohnt! Wir haben nun Switches mit vollem Linux-Support, langem Software-Support ohne weitere Lernkurve für einen weiteren Netzwerkhersteller und keine Lizenzkosten. Wir gehen im Talk durch, wie es ist, deine Distribution des Vertrauens zu installieren, was wir damit gemacht haben, wo die Stolperfallen beim ASIC offloading sind und was es wirklich bedeutet, einen Router ohne direkten Herstellersupport zu betreiben. Beim Versuch, EVPN einzusetzen, haben wir uns aber die Finger verbrannt. Ich zeige dir auch, warum es erleichternd ist, einen Switch mit Free and Open Source Software zu betreiben.
