VETS FOR PEACE 2026 NATIONAL CONVENTION, 8-6 thru 8-9 at UMKC

Jaws of Justice Radio investigates how we can achieve justice from a system of laws deeply rooted in economic, social and political inequality.  We want to dispel misconceptions created by the news and entertainment industry, politicians and our educational system. On August 3, 2026, host Terri Wilke welcomes guests Jeff Humfeld, Ellen Barfield, Nancy Lessen and Dave Logsdon.  We are going to learn about the two organizations Veterans for Peace and Military Families Speak Out. Our guests will discuss the groups’ history, the evolution to present day goals, a look to the future and the Veterans for Peace national convention which is happening this week, August 6th through August 9th at the University of Missouri in Kansas City (UMKC). https://vfpconvention.org/ Military Families Speak Out is an organization of military family members and Gold Star families whose loved ones have served in the US military since 9-11, or are serving now. Their membership spans the country and around the world. As families with loved ones who were or are in the military, they have both a unique voice and role to play in speaking out on behalf of their loved ones who are, have been, or will be on the frontlines; loved ones who are risking injury, death, and who are coming home both physically and mentally scarred. Military Families Speak Out against unjust wars and stand against endless illegal war in Iran. They inform the public of the true causes of war and the enormous costs of wars, with an obligation to heal the wounds of wars.
