Virgo New Moon 2026

Those of you who listen to my podcast regularly probably expected this to drop Sunday morning — my apologies, it’s a little late. Still, it’s coming in before the forecast period begins: September 7th, Labor Day in the US and, from what I can see, in Canada too.Labor Day marks the end of summer in the northern hemisphere. And yes, “America” includes North and South America — a word getting new scrutiny as the US President keeps claiming it exclusively, which doesn’t really hold up. You could just as easily trace “America” back to early Spanish colonization. It’s all part of a larger pattern: denial of history alongside a questioning, an eruption, maybe a restructuring of it, as AI reshapes how people see the past and the road ahead. Very Pluto-in-Aquarius — all of us shapeshifting into whatever is actually possible for human beings in the 21st century.Those possibilities sharpen over the next couple of years, as people push back against an undercurrent that feels inevitable: extracting the earth’s resources to the max before the 1% head off to Mars. Anyway — onto the week.Monday, September 7 — A Void Morning, Then a Sweet Leo ShiftThe moon is in Cancer until 12:49 p.m. Eastern, when it moves into Leo. But it goes void of course at 9:40 a.m., so for a few hours mid-to-late morning there’s no emotional glue to carry an agreement, idea, or initiation through to completion.That said, because Cancer mirrors the moon’s own energy, this void feels different from most. Cancerian themes — nurturing, home, our relationship to women, moodiness, sensitivity — are still very much accessible even in the void. (If the moon is void in your own natal sign, you may feel emotionally charged regardless.) What matters is whether anything ties things together enough for follow-through. Treat these hours as good for savoring an idea, not launching one.Once the moon enters Leo at 12:49 p.m., the energy turns sweet and fiery — it dovetails with Jupiter, also in Leo, and later sextiles Venus. This is a nice stretch, running through Wednesday afternoon, for wrapping things up and deciding what you won’t carry into the next lunar cycle.One caveat: Monday evening, the moon in Leo opposes Pluto in Aquarius. If you have planets in early degrees of a fixed sign, or natal placements affected by the ongoing Pluto-in-Aquarius transit, you may feel this building on Monday or even a day or two before — as unease, power struggles, or friction around power, money, or health.I have planets in early-degree Aquarius myself, so I’m deep in this transit, and in total candor, I’ve been dealing with a lot around my body’s physicality. That’s part of why this episode dropped later than usual — I’m learning that fuel comes from rest, diet, and focus on self, not from powering through the way I always have. Pluto, god of the underworld, symbolizes the unconscious — for me that’s meant confronting generational trauma and family legacies.So there may be a wrinkle for some of us Monday. But whether it’s grief, creative block, or heartbreak, going through it — not skirting or suppressing it — is how we get to the other side. When the moon dances with Pluto, it’s an invitation to notice what we’re pushing away from, dive in, and swim through the current: confront it, absorb it, integrate it, and ultimately grow from it.Later Monday evening through the 8th (especially mid-afternoon on) is genuinely rich — a good time to connect with where the love, support, funds, and resources are that you need to complete or build whatever you’re working on.Tuesday–Wednesday, September 8–9 — Steady Virgo GroundworkThe moon goes void of course at 2:58 p.m. Wednesday, then enters Virgo at 3:35 p.m. These are solid days for working with what’s actually in front of you rather than feeling everything’s an uphill battle — you have the tools to move toward real accomplishment.While in Virgo, the moon will square Uranus at an early degree of Gemini — both are mutable signs, which gives us adaptability to work with. Uranus tends to bring unexpected, jack-in-the-box energy wherever it travels; in Gemini, that often looks like people blurting things out, saying things in ways that land wrong. There’s a revelatory quality to it right now.I think a big piece of this is “out of the mouths of babes” — children reacting to things in unprecedented ways. Handed devices before they could speak, many kids haven’t developed the proprioceptive learning that comes from pen, paper, clay, and paint — and we’re going to start seeing the effects of that. Virgo (an earth sign linked to Mercury, unlike airy, verbal Gemini) communicates through hands and craft as much as words, so expect more public conversation about the body-mind connection and the limits of our devotion to all things electronic.Thursday, September 10 — New Moon in VirgoThe new moon lands in Virgo at 18°26’, exact at 11:27 p.m. Eastern. Leading up to it, Uranus stations retrograde — when it does, it tends to coincide with some seismic or newsworthy event, whether that’s something physical in the earth, a public revolution or statement, or something quieter and more personal that still catches us by surprise.This dark-moon-into-new-moon stretch is strong for real movement. Ask yourself: what do I want to initiate? Something physical? A plan I want to lay groundwork for? A new health program? This new moon supports genuine follow-through — though it may be worth letting ideas cook over the weekend rather than launching immediately, since acting too fast on a new moon can be premature.Friday, September 11 — Void All Day, Made for Clearing the DecksThe moon goes void of course at 1:52 a.m. and doesn’t enter Libra until 7:52 p.m. — void of course all day, still in Virgo. Use it to plan: figure out what to set up, complete, or clear off your desk before diving into a new program or thought next week. Clear the decks, get your email in order, clear your head before moving into new experiences as the new moon unfolds.Weekend, September 12–13 — Libra DiscussionsThe moon enters Libra Friday evening and stays there through Saturday and all day Sunday, going void of course again at 10:27 a.m. Sunday and remaining void the rest of the day. The theme: discussions — with people you’re planning to work or partner with, family, partners — about how you’ll get support and put things in place.The most important thing this weekend is to actually listen. You may want to partner with someone a particular way, but if you hear that they don’t have the time, interest, or commitment you do — or want to do it differently — take that seriously. Pushing forward anyway just costs you time and traction with this new moon energy, because you’ll be fighting to make something happen with people who aren’t on board.If no one’s showing up and you’re not finding the right players, don’t let the weekend end on defeat. Evaluate honestly — maybe this version of the plan, or this partnership, isn’t coming together. You can scuttle it or decide to drift and reevaluate; neither is giving up. It just means your initial idea or team isn’t where you’d like it to be yet — that doesn’t mean you won’t still follow through.Virgo is about the details, but as a dear friend of mine says about big projects: don’t get hung up on the details when what matters is the overall concept. Hold onto that concept, trust the details to follow, and figure out who’s actually willing to play in the sandbox with you. If someone else has a different idea about how this should work, sit with it instead of resisting outright — you may still decide it’s not your direction, but that back-and-forth is how you find your way. The honest truth: you can’t shake hands and make something happen with someone who sees it in a totally different light.
