Sit back and relax.Especially because learning a foreign language already puts enough pressure on your brain.Oh, absolutely. I once spent 30 minutes typing a 15-word message in French.15 words. Let me guess. Type, delete, and type again.Pretty much.I'm sure a lot of our friends know that feeling. But once I had an argument with my French friend, and somehow my French just worked. So, one time you stressed over a message, and another time you spoke well because you didn't care.Yep. It's like the good version of empty head, full mouth. Maybe language learners need that more instead of head full, mouth on mute. That's what today's episode is about. Stop thinking, start speaking. We're talking about why it's hard to communicate in a foreign language and some simple tools and habits that help you improve your speaking. No boring textbook tips, just real life ideas that actually work. Before we start, leave a comment with your name, where you're from, and why you're learning English. We'd love to hear from you.And if you stress about your level, don't. Today's episode is B1, but strong beginners are very welcome, too. We'll also go over some key vocabulary at the end, nice and slow, so stay with us.All right, let's get started. The Coffee DisasterSo, I have to tell you about a small coffee disaster I had.Gwyn and disaster. That already sounds interesting. Go on.A few years ago, I traveled to another country. At that time, I was learning the local language.Oh, and you tried to use it during the trip.Of course, I wanted to buy a coffee, so I went into a cafe.Ordering coffee sounds simple. That's what I thought. I practiced the sentence in my head about 10 times. I felt ready. Very confident.I'm still waiting for the disaster.Well, when it was my turn, everything went wrong. You forgot the words.No. Worse. I said all the words clearly, just in the wrong order. I basically said coffee by me.Ah, so you didn't buy coffee. You offered yourself.Exactly. I was very embarrassed, but the cafe staff was kind. He smiled and helped me order.Or maybe you weren't the first person who tried to sell themselves for coffee.Probably not, but his kindness helped me feel confident again. Why Our Brains Shut Down: Fear & PerfectionismI'm glad. But why does our brain shut down like that? That seems pretty common among language learners.I thought about that, too. And I think there are two main reasons. All right, tell me.The first one is fear.Fear of making mistakes.Yes. And fear of people judging you or thinking you sound stupid. That fear usually comes from the past. That's right. Maybe a strict teacher corrected you in a hard way or friends laughed when you made a mistake. And after that, your mouth just closes. You stop trying. That makes sense. But not everyone has this kind of fear. Some people have a different problem.Really? What kind? They're not scared of mistakes. They're scared of not being perfect.Ah, perfectionism.Yes. Perfectionism means you want perfect grammar, perfect pronunciation, perfect everything. And you wait until the perfect sentence is ready.Right. But when you're finally ready, the moment is gone. It's like waiting for the perfect bus. You wait and wait, but all the other buses pass by and they all go to the same place. That's spot-on. You miss your chances because you're waiting for perfection. So, you stay silent.Yes. Fear and perfectionism. Those are the two big reasons people don't speak. That actually explains a lot. Before we continue, friends, if you're enjoying this episode, hit the like button and subscribe so you don't miss more useful conversations like this. Now stay with us because the next part is about simple things you can do to stop thinking and finally start speaking. What exactly can we do?
