Wasn't Any Maybe So: Poems about the Negro Leagues

Loren Broaddus is a Greenwood history teacher, a baseball fan, and a published poet. He talks to Cooper Juneau about his latest work, due to be published in the spring, which focuses on the Negro Leagues. The book's title, "Wasn't Any Maybe So," actually comes from a quote by the great Satchel Paige. The poems reflect on many aspects of the Negro Leagues through the fictionlized thoughts of Kansas City Monarchs star Newt Allen, who in real life played for the Monarchs for over 20 years.  Broaddus's 2018 book of poetry was titled, "Joe DiMaggio Moves Like Liquid Light."
