Greenwood French teacher Nancy Bareford started traveling with school groups over 30 years ago when she taught at Hillcrest. Today she recalls those first trips with the HTV broadcast class, and how it led to many, many more trips abroad with students and adults in the years since. Listen for stories about some A-list celebs (Jamie Foxx, Julie Roberts), including a few comments from Coach Davis, then hear Ms. Bareford explain why travel is so educational, especially for young people. Cooper Juneau hosts, and Asher Nelson reports.

Our podcast team decided to give listeners a chance to hear what a typical day at our school sounds like. The sounds of Greenwood are probably the same as you find at most schools in the Ozarks, but in our case, we have grades K through 12 in the same building, which actually sits on a university campus. 

Polina and Elle are back with a "guilty pleasure" watchlist segment, plus a discussion about the seemingly never-ending third quarter, and they also have thoughts about the dangers of online games, especially for younger kids.  

It is a walk down memory lane as two Greenwood faculty members recall the decades of the 60s, 70, 80, and 90s. Tamra Barnhouse and Dave Davis share their memories of pop culture and historic events from their youth as they bridged four decades of life in the U.S. As a kid coming of age in the 60s and 70s, Davis recalls the Vietnam War and the sometimes violent protests on college campuses that were on TV every night. Barnhouse shares the horror of watching the Challenger explosion, and also speaks about the music and fashion that formed the 80s and 90s. Good times and bad times are part of this lively edition of Jaytalk, hosted by Asher Nelson.  

An appreciation of the original "Mean Girls" movie, plus a critique of the more recent musical version highlight this episode. There is also a reading of a Reddit post that presents a relatable, and aggravating scenario. The pod ends with "The Hypothetical" segment, which presents some tough choices. Greenwood freshman Mimi Shaw shares highlights of her trip to the 2026 Super Bowl with hosts Cooper Juneau and Asher Nelson. Mimi and her family cheered valiantly for their Patriots, and despite a disappointing loss, she says the experience was well worth it.

This is the last episode of "Chirps" as Asher Nelson and Cooper Juneau bring this podcast to a close. Features include a summer movie preview, a quick look at sports, and a discussion of what things will look like when they are both in their 60s. 

This is a brand new podcast from the JAYTALK team. "Not Gonna Lie" is hosted by two freshmen, Elle and Polina, who have thoughts on pop culture, teen life, and pretty much anything that comes to mind. This debut episode has their takes on the last season of "Stranger Things," a discussion about trends they find "mid" at best, plus the second semester blues and their closing bit, which we call "The Hypothetical." Greenwood librarian Michelle Oliver lost her 24-year-old son to suicide six years ago. Since then, she's turned her grief into a powerful mission—researching and advocating for mental health awareness to ensure that no other family, and no other student, has to go through that same pain. Kelby Agnew reports. NOTE:  A few months after her son's death, Mrs. Oliver collaborated to create a unit about mental health issues teachers can use as they teach Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet." Asher, Gwyn and Joe are all about the holidays as they share favorite stocking stuffers, carols and movies as the season kicks into high gear. There are some surprises along the way, like Gwyn's love of the Barbie Christmas movies, and Asher's criticism of "Home Alone." Joe also has thoughts on the Grinch films. Loren Broaddus is a Greenwood history teacher, a baseball fan, and a published poet. He talks to Cooper Juneau about his latest work, due to be published in the spring, which focuses on the Negro Leagues. The book's title, "Wasn't Any Maybe So," actually comes from a quote by the great Satchel Paige. The poems reflect on many aspects of the Negro Leagues through the fictionlized thoughts of Kansas City Monarchs star Newt Allen, who in real life played for the Monarchs for over 20 years.  Broaddus's 2018 book of poetry was titled, "Joe DiMaggio Moves Like Liquid Light."

Asher Nelson and Cooper Juneau talk turkey--literally--as they cover their top five  Thanksgiving traditions on the latest edition of our never-take-us-serious show, "Chirps." The boys also touch on the Chiefs' season so far (bleh) and their excitement about new season of "Stranger Things" which is just around the corner. The also lament the absense of fellow podcaster Joe Whitaker, who has been under the weather. Spoiler: Joe is back in class now, feeling much better. Corbin Collins visits the JAYTALK booth to talk about being a teenager speeding around the track in a Mustang Dark Horse R, a car capable of generating more than 500 horsepower. Corbin competed in the 2025 Ford Mustang Challenge, sanctioned by the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA). His visit with reporter Cooper Juneau takes listeners inside the fast-paced world of motor sports, all from the perspective of a driver who will not graduate high school until the spring of 2027.

Two adult sisters recall growing up in the atmoshere of a religious cult, where they led restricted lives dominated by the male leaders of their church. The emotional scars run deep, and they continue to deal with them over 25 years later. Reported by Kelby Agnew.
