"We Are Part of Each Other's Glory" | Rosalie Davison, 86, on Dreams, Lost Children & Hearing Ancestors' Names (LDS)

from THINNING OF THE VEIL · host Tia Smith

Send us Fan MailWhat if doing family history work isn't just about the dead — but about being together right now? Rosalie Davison is 86 years old, a widow of 11 years, a convert to the Church at 17, a mother of five, grandmother of 22, great-grandmother of 37 — and she's hearing ancestors' names by revelation and feeling them beside her as she works. From her home on the Gold Coast of Australia, Rosalie shares thinning of the veil experiences spanning decades, beginning with a dream: she was a mother searching for her children, sobbing and sobbing, feeling the most devastating pain she'd ever known — and woke knowing somewhere in her family tree, children had been lost. Eighteen months later she found them: her third great-grandparents' family, 15 children in all (four never accounted for, babies who died and were forgotten), none sealed to their parents. When she knelt as proxy mother for the sealings, tears streaming down her face, the sealer told her husband afterward: "Your wife was surrounded by a white light." Her testimony: "I felt like I was the mother. I was experiencing her feelings — gratitude, love, and 'at last, at last.'" Since learning from this podcast to ask God directly for a name, Rosalie has received name after name: Agnes Mumford, a three-year-old who led her to three siblings drowned in a lily pond in Christchurch, New Zealand in the 1870s — their work reserved by someone else for six years, released to the temple the same Friday Rosalie got the name on Monday. Sarah Rawlings, who stood beside her as she searched, nudging her on until she was found. Ariana Kelsey. Ronnie Althorpe, a 14th cousin whose name she heard in her husband's voice: "Ronnie, you contact my wife. She'll get it done for you." Her great-grandson, before the age of eight, told his mother he knew "G Dad's dad" — correctly naming him "Johnny" with red hair — and said he met him before he was born. Of Rosalie's deceased husband, the boy said: "Pa speaks to me in the wind. He told me there's two kinds of angels — sky angels that have jobs in heaven, and earth angels that look after their family. Pa said you have a choice, and he's an earth angel." Her adopted daughter Kelly, who is Cambodian with physical and intellectual disabilities, told Rosalie the morning of her temple sealing: "I'm going to be baptized today. Barna told me" — Barna being her deceased grandmother's family name, who appeared to Kelly in a dream. Rosalie had no idea a baptism would be required; the temple president confirmed it that morning, and Kelly was baptized, then sealed to her family in the Oakland Temple. Rosalie's testimony: "When we are sealed to our ancestors, it's not just about being together sometime in the future. It's about being together right now. Every time we find an ancestor and do their work, it adds another person to encircle us in the arms of their love and protection. We are part of each other's glory.""We are part of each other's glory, and they cannot be made perfect without us nor we without them." — Rosalie DavisonQ: Can you hear ancestors' names through revelation?A: Rosalie testifies that since learning to ask God directly, she regularly hears names in prayer — Agnes Mumford, Sarah Rawlings, Ariana Kelsey, Ronnie Althorpe — each one a relative with temple work waiting. "I just say, Heavenly Father, who? And I will hear a name formulate in my head." Every name has led to a real person, related to her, with work to be done.Q: Can deceased loved ones appear to children who never knew them?A: Rosalie's great-grandson, before age eight, correctly identified his great-grandfather by name ("Johnny") and appearance (red hair), saying he met him "before I was born." Of her deceased husband, the boy said: "Pa speaks to me in the wind. He told me there's two kinds of angels — sky angels that have jobs in heaven, and earth angels that look after their family."Q: Can temple work heal the pain of losing a spouse?A: Rosalie, widowed for 11 years, testifies that doing family history work has brought her closer to her husband: "When I am engaging in this work, I feel him around me." She believes he is finding ancestors on the other side and conveying their names to her: "Ronnie, you contact my wife. She'll get it done for you."Q: What happened to the three children who drowned in Christchurch?A: The name "Agnes Mumford" came to Rosalie at 9 a.m. on a Monday. Agnes, a three-year-old who died in the 1870s, led Rosalie to her siblings: a 10-year-old, 8-year-old, and 6-year-old who drowned together in a lily pond in Christchurch, New Zealand. Their temple work had been reserved by someone else for six years and was released to the temple that same week. By Friday, every ordinance was complete.📚 SOURCES REFERENCED IN THIS EPISODE2 Nephi 1:15 ("encircled eternally in the arms of his love")Doctrine and Covenants 128:15 ("neither can we without our dead be made perfect")▶️ WATCH & LISTEN🎬 YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@thinningoftheveil🌐 Website: https://www.thinningoftheveil.com🎧 Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/thinning-of-the-veil/id1753511394🟢 Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/6jWCfMHkZXwnSwy2b98J4M🎵 Amazon Music: https://music.amazon.com/podcasts/a0a45561-d4c2-46d3-af8d-a1e967a21a25📖 BOOKPatterns of Revelation — Spiritual Foundations for Hearing God's Voice: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BW36MG9B📱 CONNECTInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/thinning.of.the.veilFacebook Group (Gathering of the Gatherers): https://www.facebook.com/groups/1429562078443774Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/thinningoftheveil💛 SUPPORT THE SHOWVenmo: https://account.venmo.com/u/thinningoftheveilPayPal: https://paypal.me/thinningoftheveil✉️ Have you had a thinning of the veil experience?
