Peter and John displayed great courage before the Jewish rulers but as they report back to the intfant church, confident united prayer is made for even greater boldness. Why made them so confident? In Chris Boraston's exposition of Acts 4:23-31 provides the answer; they relied on Old Testament scripture, specifically Psalm 2 where Christ's sovereign lordship over the nations was spelled out prophetically a thousand years earlier.
