It's Foster Care Awareness Month! As a former foster child Cathleen has a lot to share about both her experience as a foster child as well as the hard truths facing foster children. Cathleen interviews April Dinwiddie about her experience as a transracial adoptee, and her organization Adoptment. They discuss race in adoption as well as what it means to give back to the foster care system and help those children who do not have a home or someone to turn to when things get rough. Cathleen shares the statistics regarding the foster care system in America, as well as how the COVID-19 Pandemic has drained the already parched system of its resources. She goes into the mental health effects many children and adults who grew up in this system deal with years after. All this and more on this weeks episode of the iWoman Report.
