Mallory and Civil Rights attorney Benjamin Crump, Common, Jada Pinkett-Smith, Rapsody, Yandy Smith, and MC Lyte. In an effort to protest the death of Breonna Taylor and the lack of action against the officers who killed the 27-year old EMT on March 13th, thousands of protesters recently gathered in Louisville, Kentucky. Cathleen Trigg-Jones and the iWoman Report were there. During the march, Trigg-Jones conducted the first interview with Taylor's boyfriend Kenneth Walker and interviews Taylor’s mother Tamika Palmer, sister Juniyah Palmer, and aunt Bianca Austin. While walking out of his church cafe in downtown Springfield, Pastor Timothy Paul heard a young musician, Shamrok, playing a tune on a piano and surprised him, joining in with an improvised song the pastor says was inspired by the pandemic. During the episode, Bracey briefs viewers on details of the 2nd annual National Crown Day, a now virtual event to help celebrate Black hair independence. The CROWN Act, which stands for Creating a Respectful and Open World for Natural Hair, prohibits discrimination based on hair texture and hairstyle. This week’s episode takes a deep dive into the journey and challenges female filmmakers often face in the entertainment industry. Celebrating SurviveHERS
June is National Cancer Survivor Month, and on this week's episode of the iWoman Report, host Cathleen Trigg-Jones honors and celebrates surviveHERs. SurviveHERS, are women who have battled or are currently battling cancer. Lung and bronchial cancer is the leading cause of cancerous deaths in women; and while breast cancer is the 2nd leading cause of cancer death in women. There are currently 3.8 million breast cancer survivors in the United States alone. It's Foster Care Awareness Month! As a former foster child Cathleen has a lot to share about both her experience as a foster child as well as the hard truths facing foster children. Cathleen interviews April Dinwiddie about her experience as a transracial adoptee, and her organization Adoptment. Breaking News: Justice For George Floyd
In just moments after the "Derek Chauvin trial's" verdict is announced, Cathleen Trigg-Jones is joined in a live discussion with Tamika Mallory, Founder of 'The Until Freedom' organization, and Brandon Williams, the nephew of George Floyd. Derek Chauvin is the former Minneapolis Police officer who kneeled on George Floyd's neck for over 9 minutes back on May 25th, 2020. The murder of George Floyd left much of America in an uproar, sparking protests, riots, and high racial tensions. As of April 20th, 2021, Chauvin is found guilty of second-degree unintentional murder, third-degree murder, and second-degree manslaughter after murdering. Cathleen Trigg-Jones dives into a live discussion with activist Tamika Mallory straight from the courthouse as the verdict is released.

The Women's March organization held a protest on October 8th, one month ahead of the midterm elections, to advocate for women's rights. History was made last week in Washington, D.C. as the statue of Civil Rights leader and trailblazing educator, Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune was unveiled in the Capitol’s Statuary Hall. Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune is the first Black person elevated by a state for recognition in Statuary Hall. In celebration of Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune’s historic statue, we recognize her many achievements and the lasting impact she has made on the education system. Tragedy on Independence Day
The past 4th of July weekend left Americans in despair once again as multiple shootings occurred amidst the Independence Day festivities. Cathleen Trigg-Jones takes us through the tragedy that happened in Highland Park, IL and the jarring difference in the way police officers treated the shooter, a white man, and Jayland Walker, a black man who was killed after being shot 60 times by officers after fleeing from a traffic stop. Plus, it’s BIPOC mental health awareness month, so Cathleen goes over the various factors people of color go through that add to the stresses of life and increase risk of mental illness.

Celebrating Title IX & Its Impact
The over turning of Roe v. Wade leaves us wondering about the future of women’s rights in America, but there is still room to celebrate the good things that have been happening to move toward gender equality. Governor Kathy Hochul may be New York’s very first elected female governor and we just celebrated the 50th anniversary of the passage of Title IX, the legislation that made discrimination on the basis of sex illegal. Roe v. Wade Overturned
After months of protests and outrage, the Supreme Court has officially determined the fate of women’s abortion rights with a ruling that overturned the constitutional right to an abortion in a 6-3 ruling. As a result roughly 26 states are likely to restrict abortion practices. On this iWoman Report, we uncover the Supreme Court decision that has stripped women of a fundamental human right that will disproportionately affect women of color and women in low-income communities.

As we continue to celebrate Women’s History Month, we recognize the importance of Equal Pay Day which took place on March 15th with an inside look at Governor of New York Kathy Hochul’s bill signing which brought two bills into law that protect women from discrimination and ensure equal pay.
