Week 26 - Cosmic Cairns - Dust Devil

I can't believe we're already at the halfway point!  Okay, we just gotta do everything we just did one more time.  :) This week I decided to re-visit a song I originally wrote back in 2007.  It was part of a pseudo-concept album I did back then called "Swelter" that was sort of about deserts and heat.  As we're starting to get some hot temperatures around here, it got me thinking about it again.  I always liked this song, and I remember playing it live a few times back in the day.  I wanted to see what I could do with it now.  I tried to stay pretty true to the original arrangement, just with the added benefit of what I've learned about recording music in the intervening years. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________ The other day when I saw you walking past my window Then fade away reminded me of all the things I didn't know The wind stirred up and it seemed like the palm trees were kissing So I backed up, knew that there was something I was missing Still it's so strange Summer days float away Summer days float away Float away Dust storm blew in still they come and go without no warning Went for a swim 'cause it was already hot this morning The a.c. quit, I was burning up in my apartment Til sunset came brought along the welcome cooling darkness Still it's so strange... 2026 Copyright All rights reserved
