Week 27 - jegasus - Flying into a Hurricane

from WeeklyBeats.com - Music RSS Feed · host jegasus

### Lore I'm sure you've heard of them cloud seeders, right? Shit, that job is easy compared to what we do! They just go up there when conditions are peachy and have a fun little jaunt in the sky. Us cloud sanders? We go in when shit's at its worst: thunderstorms, hurricanes, typhoons, you name it. We fly up in there and drop sand on the clouds to break 'em up. It just makes things safer and more manageable on land, you know? So yeah, we fly nose first into some pretty gnarly situations. And not to mention cases where there's just a sky monster hiding in them clouds! But no matter, we take those out, too. Gives us an excuse to use our favorite toys, the laser turrets. Just another day's work is all. ### Production details This one came about super quickly and almost by chance! I hadn't set aside time to make music this week and I knew I would be out all day on Sunday, so this started coming together on Friday evening. Luckily, I was able to find some time then and bang the core pieces out. I started by creating an unstoppable-sounding bass kick and thought "hell yeah, this sounds like a boss fight" and just kept going down that track trying to keep the intensity up. I can't say why, but I'm really proud of the little motif of the main bendy lead on this one. As usual, this just has one "movement" or chord progression (if you can even call it that) but I think it doesn't feel or sound all that repetitive, at least not to me. The idea for the lore and story here came from the theme for this round of the M8 Community Jam, which was "Cloudcover". This felt like it could be the soundtrack for one of those top-down bullet hell shooters where your ship is an old timey plane with inexplicably advanced laser beams, and where the pilots need to fly into storm clouds to do crazy stunts and fight monsters. All of the voices in the song are the M8's internal WAVSYNTH with the exception of the bass kick, which is MACROSYNTH. No samples used and what you hear is the direct render from the M8 pushed through Audacity to generate an MP3. ### Diary and chatter Howdy, folks! Have I recently mentioned how much I value places like the M8 Community Jams and Weekly Beats? These little nooks are fucking awesome. Thank you all so much for listening, and doubly so for taking time to comment. These are such special communities. It's so incredible that we have such a massive pool of talent posting IMPRESSIVE work on a regular basis, and I feel bad that I don't listen to (or comment on) enough of it. Anyways, in this absolute sea of greatness, thank you for stopping by this weird little corner of mine and being so kind. M8CJ and WB are such treasures. They (and the Dirtywave Discord in general) are, by far, my favorite internet spaces. Thank you for being amazing.
