Week 33 - monstret - mind spectre

This is attempt two at Melodic Techno after last week's fail. › Prod notes‹ Prod notes To me, this feels closer to the target genre even though it still falls short in some genre staples (like super weak call and response "robots talking" for example). It was an especially taxing week at work with extra early mornings. I had this session open a few evenings as we watched TV for what felt like a good chunk of hours in total, but 70% of that must have been me slowly falling asleep with the cursor key pressed down and scrolling down a preset list as I was searching for sounds! I think if I had spent a little more time on the track I could have gotten it there. It doesn't feel like as much of a mystery anymore. I'll take a break from this genre now and excited to try to do something on the M8 again for w34. Things I wish I had gotten to: - I really wanted to get better cohesion in the melodies. It sounds like what it is now: a few different variations on one idea, but wasn’t able to quickly get that to sit together well. - So many of the transitions between sections and buildups are clumsy. - Not that I ever get as far as real automation passes, but I feel like techno genres really need a lot of that and this only has a few very simple volume tweaks as far as I remember.
