Week 33 - prophisee - Lucid

from WeeklyBeats.com - Music RSS Feed · host prophisee

Struggled to come up with a lyric idea this week. Usually base them off things I've done so this is another one vaguely about sailing. › lyrics‹ lyricsVerse 1 Drifting towards the horizon The shorline is elusive humidity is rising Sweat on my face, crusing the straits Feel like I’m living lucid When it pulls its surprising Moving through, you see it true The salt is crystalizing one word makes it hard to navigate, when I wonder why I lie wide awake To drift is to be human Chorus I want more I want to find the shore › idea and narrative‹ idea and narrativeWorking with the word lucid as a seed word. Instrumental is an acoustic jam that just pedals on A. Marching snare. Driving but kinda wandering and weirdly dreamy. › scratch notes‹ scratch noteshuman music stupid elusive excuses losing new kid grid, prove it Tighten silver edge arising crystalizing navigate, wide awake, › object writing‹ object writingSlightly sticky. A bit uncomfortably warm. Sweat underneath the life jacket and the fabric of the hat soaking in. Slight bobbing and forward momentum. The whirr of the electric motor followed by silence as the sails are hoisted. The changes of angle and speed in the boat can be felt with the whole body as the wind goes up and down. Relief from the heat with a quick gust and then return of the sweat with a lull. Hoisting the spinnaker is a pleasant reprieve. Lots of work running tapes and hoisting to get it up. But, once its up, a pleasant sense of harnessing everything that’s available in the air to propel forward. The buzz of random watercraft going by can be heard or felt. Seeing becomes subtly and slowly more difficult as the sun recedes below the horizon. › song history‹ song history## Summary The song is currently a one‑chord, A‑pedal acoustic jam seeded around the word "lucid" with a marching‑snare feel; it was created 8/16/2026 (11:45 AM) and saw concentrated lyric work the evening of 8/16/2026 (5:50–7:15 PM). Over those edits the text moved from terse landscape statements into more tactile, navigational sea/heat imagery and tightened a repeated navigation line; the elusive target shifted repeatedly (destination → i → island → shoreline). The working verse and chorus state (truncated) as of 7:14 PM: > Drifting towards the horizon  > The shorline is elusive  > humidity is rising  > Sweat on my face, crusing the straits  > Feel like I’m living lucid > > When it pulls its surprising  > Moving through, you see it true  > The salt is crystalizing  > one word makes it hard to navigate, when I wonder why I lie wide awake  > To drift is to be human > > I want more  > I want to find the shore ## Writing Sessions 1) 5:50–6:11 PM — Initial reframing and atmosphere - At 5:50 PM a line was rephrased from a passive statement to a present participle motion: > The horizon drifts > > Drifting towards the horizon - At 6:07 PM a different evasive target phrasing replaced an earlier line: > Reprieve is elusive. > > The destination is elusive - At 6:11 PM a new tactile/ambient line was added: > The humidity is rising 2) 6:22–6:35 PM — Navigation motif and structural label change; bodily/sea details - Around 6:22 several navigation and human/drift lines were added: > Don't be shy, navigate  > wide awake > > Can't float on your excuses  > To drift is to be human - At 6:23 a structural label in the file was changed from a generic "Chorus" to "Verse 1". - At 6:25 the "wide awake" fragment was expanded and the file reintroduced the "Chorus" label (later edits continue to refine these lines): > Through the mist be wide awake - Between 6:28 and 6:32 added and then modified bodily/sea images: > Moving through, you see it truer > > Sweat on my face - Later that same minute the sweat line was extended and a new fragment was added: > Sweat on my face, crusing the straits  > When it pulls its surprising - By 6:33–6:35 the navigation line was punctuated and then combined/altered, and a salt/crystallization image was added: > Don't be shy, navigate. > > Don't be shy, navigate, wide awake > > The salt is crystalizing  > Don't be shy, navigate, life wide awake 3) 7:07–7:15 PM — Serial target edits, tightening phrasing, and chorus lines added - Between 7:07 and 7:08 the evasive target line was edited repeatedly in short succession: > The destination is elusive > > The i is elusive > > The island is elusive > > The shorline is elusive - At 7:08 the earlier humidity line was lowercased in the file to: > humidity is rising - At 7:10 a minor tightening adjusted comparative phrasing: > Moving through, you see it truer > > Moving through, you see it true - At 7:12 a longer navigation/awake line replaced the earlier compact navigation phrase: > Don't be shy, navigate, life wide awake > > one word makes it hard to navigate, when I wonder why I lie wide awake - At 7:15 two short chorus lines were added as the existing chorus content: > I want more  > I want to find the shore End state (7:14–7:15 PM snapshot) is the verse with sea/heat imagery, the inserted "Feel like I’m living lucid" line in the verse, the reflexive navigation/awake line, and a two‑line chorus expressing desire to find the shore.
