Week 40 - miraclemiles - Yes to Mess

Talking to a friend about music this week. He asked, do you f around? I said why yes, I do! So I messed around on the 505 looper. I fantasize about being able to do live vocal improvisations on it. Fed my voice through both Roland E5 vocal processor and Kaoss pad, then into looper for more effects (so many effects) It was a lot to tame and I have more to learn. The voicey sounds and bass line in this are voice. Drums and synth are from the Circuits I had set up beside. -- The resistance against creating was strong this week. Procrastination, excuses, doubts, all of it. Weekly Beats deadline, practicing on the gear finally got me through. I talk to others about pushing through the resistance, so I gotta walk the walk, but wow it takes some effort some weeks. -- It was fun to mess around. Didn't fully love the sounds I made, but I was committed to using them. Recorded at 96, then 126 BPM. Then somehow when trying to organize the piles of sound in Ableton today, I bumped it to 142 ... and now we're boppin! -- Also motivated since I missed last week. Visited family in the far NW corner of the US where you can smell Canada and the Salmon are flip flopping upstream. We went into the woods, past a muddy homestead where a wobbly house is framed, but the man and his pregnant wife will winter in the trailer. In those woods we picked 7 pounds of Chanterelle mushrooms. My eyes became adept at picking out their creamy color. My father has some ailments he should get through, but life at 80 has its challenges. -- Now to go practice drums for next weeks track. Feeling motivated after watching part of a Neal Peart documentary, No One's Disciple, where other drummers sit in with Rush to play songs and talk.
