Yes, more ambient. I have another tune that started 2 weeks ago but still wasnt able to get into the right mindset to keep working on it, and I went down the rabbit hole of some pads design, so after making a couple I used them to make this chill tune, I think the drums comes from a stock m8 sample, it felt pretty good so I went with it. I also recorded some water flowing from the kitchen, it gives such a nice texture and connection to the real world that I liked a lot. The pads where done with multiple tracks of saw swarm for one and multiple tracks of fm wavetables for another, I also used a preset for that stuttery sound, still so much to learn, I almost never look at the already present synths and preset in the m8 but damn, theres some really nice sounds I should use/study more. Everytyme I hear a nice sound online or on a track I think can it be done on the m8? and most of the time is totally possible, especially when using the fm with single oscillator (so no fm really), or multiple tracks in general cause the main limit is always the polyphony, for example you want a note to keep ringing for a little even when pressing the new note and the only way is with multiple tracks, the reverb alone helps but is not the same effect.
