Week 43 - Cosmic Cairns - Underwater Flame
from WeeklyBeats.com - Music RSS Feed Hosted by Cosmic Cairns
I had a weird thought about a flame that was burning underwater and I liked the image of it. I sort of came up with a story about being done wrong by someone in the past, but somehow maintaining this unlikely underwater flame as a source of strength. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________ Somewhere within the mountainous sprawl Reached for your hand, but you let me fall I tumbled through the drifts of snow It's not the first time you let go You were so angry for so long I still don't know what I did wrong I don't know how to make amends I dodged a bullet in the end Can't understand the rules to your game Your salve's illusory and that's a shame But I'm glad you spared Me the years of wear Still haven't snuffed my fire out Through years of rain through years of drought You sucked the oxygen away But my torch stayed lit anyway I stashed it somewhere safe and sound Below the sky beneath the ground Within a hidden ocean's depths Where you will never cross its breadth Shouldn't be possible but all the same I've stoked a brilliant underwater flame And there is no doubt That it won't go out The murky waters luminesce And boil away the excess stress The ocean predators steer clear But they'll pounce on you if you come near Got what you wanted in the end The world broke me but I'm on the mend You never were a shining light Just a false road that leads to blight I got away before you staked your claim Now I can stay warm near my watery flame It's been cozy here For so many years 2026 Copyright All rights reserved
