This one came together quickly, out of playing with a fingering pattern in 3/4 (the first thing you hear), though it doesn't sound to me like waltz time. Suddenly, a western-sounding rhythm guitar figure emerged and kind of took over. There are intuitive pauses throughout, which felt right. In places I also make intuitive choices about section length and structure. it seems to work, and it's efficient: just under three minutes. There are three tracks of PureSalem Mendiola, allowing it to overdrive the UA Volt. You'll hear this most on the bridge-pickup-only track on the right channel. There's the usual send to a convolution reverb, with a small stairwell-sized impulse file. (The small reverb impulse sounded crisp, not letting tails bleed over too far into the rests between rhythm phrases.) There's also the usual compression/eq/limiting on the stereo mix. The title comes from a rapids on the Yellowstone River in Montana, 669 m long, which fit with the "western" feel. 2026 Copyright All rights reserved
