Another new toy demo week! Came across a used Sonicware Liven Mega Synthesis for a decent price, so I yoinked it. As a kid I used to play the Sega Genesis in my grandparents basement whenever we would visit, so there is some amount of nostalgia that comes with the console, though admittedly my gaming experience mostly began on the Gameboy Advance. I wanted to do a shallow dive on as many of the features as possible, using only this device and no other processing... well until I gave up, got lazy, added a haphazard EQ at the end lol. I'll admit the transition midway is a bit of a rough cut, though not sure how to prevent that across pattern changes. Created my own FM sounds and used the built in sequencer, eventually playing with the stutter feature for an on-the-spot performance. I'll say you miss a lot of goodness that comes with Elektron sequencers that isn't present here, but it still feels like a capable enough sequencer with a lot of little charming nooks! I do miss having multiple effects on a pattern or on individual tracks though.
