Week 43 - Tom Foolery - Moving

I have spent the weekend packing in anticipation of my upcoming move. I've had a lot of help from my Mum and Dad who are visiting and staying with me for the weekend. This meant that I didn't get any time alone, which meant recording a weeklybeat with an audience!!! I roped my sister into helping me write and record this. I love singing along with her. I think her voice is a wonderful complement and works well as a lead with mine backing. After recording as a single room mic recording, we tried adding some overdubbed harmonies to the final chorus, but Eleanor wasn't happy with any of her own takes. I love this piece purely because it was so fun to record it with my sister. Mum and Dad quite enjoyed being involved too, although they didn't feature on this one. It's nice to be in a house full of people again, even if briefly. This week has been good I think?? A few good catch-ups with friends. I finally got to go for a run - my first exercise since getting the stitches in. I had been going stir-crazy and restless without being able to exercise, so that was a huge relief to get moving again. I felt so much better for getting that energy out. Yesterday, I took some music gear to Found Sound for them to sell, as I have to downsize to move. One of the items I took was the bass amplifier that I have had since I was a teenager (Roland CK100 keyboard amp from the 80s). It sounded fantastic. I loved the way my bass sang through it, and I spent hours upon hours playing through it as a teenager. Realistically, I have had to accept that I do not need a bass amplifier anymore. I don't play in a band. I certainly can't justify an amplifier that big. It was sad to see it go, and hard to let go of that chapter of my life and the dreams that I had. But, I have new dreams now. It's time to make space for those.
