WEEK 6 | HEBREWS 7:1-8:13
from BIBLE STUDY PODCAST · host Kelly Meadows, Kristy Allen
In Week 6 we look at how the Old Testament figure of Melchizedek foreshadows Christ’s fulfillment as our King of Righteousness and Peace. We see that both Melchizedek and Christ are from a different priestly order than the Levitical order and that they are both Kings. With this new order, the author of Hebrews makes the argument that a new covenant was then needed through the fulfillment of Christ which nullifies the old law. Christ as our priest-king reigns forever in the better tent (heaven) and offers us a better covenant of hope based on better promises. So, therefore, it’s a continuation of the author’s argument to the original audience to stand firm because they have the better thing.
