Welcome back to "Literary Glimmer." I am Mandy. Tonight, I want to invite you to take a deep breath. Inhale... and exhale. Can you hear it? The constant hum of the city, the notifications on your phone, the endless list of things you "should" do. Sometimes, it feels like we are running on a treadmill that never stops. We work harder to buy things we don't need, to impress people we don't know. And in the middle of all this noise, a quiet question arises: Is this really living? Or are we just... existing? We are often afraid of silence, afraid of being alone with our thoughts. But what if the answer we are looking for isn't out there in the world, but deep inside the quiet? Tonight, we are going to a place of absolute stillness. A small cabin by a lake, surrounded by woods. We are visiting Henry David Thoreau and his masterpiece, "Walden." Thoreau did something many of us dream of but few dare to do. He walked away from society. Not because he hated people, but because he wanted to find himself. He wanted to strip away everything unnecessary to see what was left. He wanted to know what life truly is.Before we step into his cabin, let's hold a few words in our hands. The first word is: Deliberately. It means to do something on purpose, with full awareness. Most of us live automatically, by habit. Thoreau wanted to live deliberately. The second word is: Marrow. It literally means the soft substance inside bones, but metaphorically, it means the most essential, vital part of something. Thoreau wanted to suck the "marrow" out of life—to get to the very core of existence. And finally: Resignation. This is a feeling of giving up, of accepting a life you don't love. Thoreau refused to live a life of "quiet resignation."Now, imagine it is early morning. The mist is rising off Walden Pond. The air is crisp and cold. You are standing at the door of a simple wooden cabin. Let's listen to Thoreau's voice as he explains why he left the world behind."I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived. I did not wish to live what was not life, living is so dear; nor did I wish to practise resignation, unless it was quite necessary. I wanted to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life, to live so sturdily and Spartan-like as to put to rout all that was not life, to cut a broad swath and shave close, to drive life into a corner, and reduce it to its lowest terms, and, if it proved to be mean, why then to get the whole and genuine meanness of it, and publish its meanness to the world; or if it were sublime, to know it by experience, and be able to give a true account of it in my next excursion.""To live deep and suck out all the marrow of life." What a powerful image. Thoreau challenges us to look at our own lives. Are we living deeply? Or are we just skimming the surface? He reminds us that life is not about what we have, but about how we experience the world. It is about waking up every morning and choosing to be present, choosing to be real. We don't have to move to a forest to find our own Walden. We just need to clear away the clutter in our minds and focus on what truly matters to us.Maybe for you, living deliberately means turning off your phone for an hour to read a book. Maybe it means saying "no" to a social event you don't enjoy, so you can spend time with your family. Or maybe it just means pausing, right now, to look at the moon. Whatever it is, I hope you find your own essential facts of life.Thank you for joining me in the woods tonight. Goodnight, and may you live deliberately.在小宇宙查看该单集文稿
