There was an announcement that Wendell Pierce best known for his work on “The Wire” will play as blues legend B.B. King in a biopic. Pierce said according to Rolling Stone, “ We are official. Preparation has begun on a film where I will be honored to play the great B.B. King. Humbled. I promised B.B. King before he died, I will honor him and his creative genius. An American Icon. I remember Pierce from the Ray Charles movie starring Jamie Foxx. Pierce is a very good actor, and I would love to see him play as B.B. King. He has the look and personality, and I believe he can portray him well. Pierce has been in over 30 films, appeared in nearly 50 television shows, and has performed in dozens of stage productions. He worked on the HBO dramas The Wire and Treme.Who knows? When Pierce is finished with the B.B. King biopic, it might become the greatest film he has ever made.According to Rolling Stone, the project was first announced in 2011, but went dark following a legal dispute.
