Every day, the statistics on the nation's growing COVID-19 deaths and infections become grimmer, as the novel coronavirus continues its spread. The Trump administration's bungling of this crisis has resulted in an unprecedented economic crash: A record 3.2 million Americans filed for unemployment last week, and there will surely be more to come. The Senate's passage of a $2.2 trillion aid package is a start, but more is needed, and Nancy Pelosi vows that there will be another tranche of financial measures to help the American populace soon. But first, the House needs to pass the Senate bill (expected to occur today). Donald Trump is not to blame for the emergence of this deadly new virus - but his decision to dismantle the public health apparatus created by previous administrations and his refusal to follow the advice of experts is directly responsible for the situation we find ourselves in now... and his desire to "open the economy back up" while the pandemic continues to ramp up is going to result in many more sick and dead Americans.
