Then, the NFL hosted it's first Big Data Bowl where students from universities all over the country competed to find new, innovative ways to play the game of football. A Penn team consisting of _____ made it to the finals with a project on receiver routes and optimizing yardage. Two of them join the show to discuss their research. Plus the author of "Big Data Baseball" joins the show to discuss the development of sports science and player stats in MLB. They were part of a team from the Wharton Sports Research Group which was named one of four college-level finalists in the NFL’s first Big Data Bowl, and they presented their findings at the NFL Combine just two weeks ago.
