What Does Charlie Kirk's Death Mean for America?

from The TexTenn Podcast

We've never done an episode like this. This was one of the hardest episodes we've ever recorded. We honestly didn't know if we should have even recorded it. But this one really hit us hard. Last week, Charlie Kirk was assassinated at a public event that happened in Utah. It was supposed to be an open for all public dialogue where people are allowed to ask questions, to speak what's on their mind. And if you're following Charlie Kirk, you'd understand how respectful and open he was. People called him names: f*scist, r*cist, h*moph*be; but if you watched him, you saw he let anyone step up, ask anything, and he answered with patience and conviction, always tying it back to his faith. For us, this isn't just news you scroll past. It's personal. As dads, we had to look at our kids and try to explain why someone could lose their life for speaking truth and living out their beliefs. That's not something we ever thought we'd have to do. The Charlie Kirk legacy means something to us, and it matters that we talk about it. You'll hear it in this episode. There were a lot of pauses where we just didn't know what to say. We're sad, we're mad, we're frustrated, and honestly we're scared about what this means for our country. But we also believe the Charlie Kirk legacy is more than one man's death. It's courage, it's conviction, it's standing up when the world tries to silence you. We don't have neat answers or polished thoughts here. This episode is just us, grieving, wrestling with what happened, and trying to make sense of it out loud. But one thing remains certain, the Charlie Kirk legacy isn't gone, and we believe it calls us to keep going, keep speaking, and keep the faith, no matter how hard it gets.
